great take on this challenge...you will never score well doing it this way (oh I know I do it all the time) but certainly would have my vote (sorry I didn't vote on this one)-I really like the sign , it points out how we just go on with our normal lives, unaffected...

Hi Arcady,

I must admit - I'm new to DPChallenge and this was my first challenge voting session for lack of better word. I think I 'judged' a few photos wrongly because I did not read that 'progress - a blessing or a curse' As others have already said, your photo is powerful and now with my new-found knowledge I realize the meaning of your photo. I was wrong, it fits the requirments superbly and I wish I could take back my vote.

In the future I will try to pay better attention - life's a dance you learn as you go - so somebody sang.

This is a powerful picture. The light is quite harsh, but maybe that's what you were after to emphasize the harsh life. I can imagine that black & white might work well in this image.

I considered B&W, but decided that colour works well here. There are only two major colours here (blues and reds), I don't think colour is distracting here.

I considered this, but decided it would take away too much context. The elevator is not essential here, but without it there will be very little context left at all.

I like this picture. Shows us how progress is relational, eh?

To me, this is not progress. Wrong catagory.

I think this works quite well, and I suspect its a combination of the lighting which serves to make the gentlemen blend more with his surroundings (which adds to the "message", in a way) and the colors.

Yes, thank you. Disturbing subject matter, but gorgeous use of color.
