Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments.
I have learned so much with this one, and it was one of the most enjoyable photoshoots in my life. This little hopper survived 4 hours of my photo experiments and was released back to freedom unharmed. |

The challenge did say to get intimate, and giving this insect a name certainly shows you did that! But so does the photo; the composition is nicely balanced and the major lines in the image (focused grass blade, antennae, and wings to name a few) all lead the viewer's eye to insect's head, which is well focused. It let's the viewers get as intimate with this critter as you did. |

Simple, sharp effective. A very nice shot. Perhaps a little more light on the hopper's flank - it seems a tad dark around the eye. Nice job. |

Well, this is one of the best I've seen in here so far, but for me grasshoppers aren't a very challenging or interesting subject to photograph.

Great, artistic composition here with the nicely arranged foliage. Fernando looks like a fine locust indeed. Great focus and DOF - should do well. [9] |

Being no expert of insects, this macro proides wonderful crisp detail while also revealing his habitat or stomping grounds. Apart from the educational value it will hold for most of us, it is aptly exposed, with colour and hues appearing true to nature. The image is free of any distracting or redundant elements. Composition... examplary. The near-white background found or created here provides a welcome and fresh counterbalance to the Cimmerian tones and shapes which distinguish this creature viewed at such proximity. The absence of a decorative border, particularly, stresses the integrity of this impeccable shot. |

I especially like all of the textures in this (fun title as well) and the way the leaves echo the wing curves |
