 This is the first thing that really came to mind immediately when I saw the challenge open. I had such high hopes for the photo but it didn't turn out exactly as I planned. I was trying to capture the look of the Furies from an old 70's movie called "The Warriors."

Lighting was a nightmare on this one. My dad and I learned half a dozen ways NOT to light the shot and finally my dad and I combined at the last hour to achieve this lighting. Used a black sheet for a drop cloth behind and lit with house lights (75 Watts from the left and 25 Watts from the right). Used black foamcore boards to redirect light away from the background and just on the subject (my dad masterfully engineered this one).

Post processing included adjusting temperature and exposure in RAW to set white balance correctly. Played with subtle dodge and burn techniques particularly in the face and shoes. Resized, sharpened, and saved for web.

This shot cost me too much financially as I had to buy the uniform, face makeup, drop cloth, etc as well as several props that didn't make it into the final shot. If I made more money for living I would say it was all worth it though because I made a lot of mistakes I learned from and I nearly acheived perfectly the light I was looking for. Now I can work on perfecting the lighting for future shots!
