The place where I made this photo is quite ugly. It's a stinking pond, very small (all of it is the photo) and it hasn't been cleaned since 15 years ago at least. That's why the colours are so greenish. But I was passing near this place looking for photos for this challenge and gived a try. I think can do well... just kidding, it will fall as usual.

PP: ACR, levels, USM, resize, USM, save for web.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Hi Alex,

Reading your Photographer's Comments I have to say it seems you've managed to make a beautiful picture out of an ugly scene - good eye for a shot.

This submission seems to have met with varied reactions - some like the bottom two-thirds and some like the top two-thirds. Looking at it I think the problem is that it does seem to be telling two stories that don't really go together - the reflection at the top and the rock at the bottom don't go together; perhaps because the reflection is so soft and gentle and the rock is so sharp and harsh.

I think the scene as a whole would have worked better if the rock hadn't been quiet so over-sharpened. This would have lent the whole image the soft diffused feel that the first comment refers to.

I hope my comments help and Good Luck in future Challenges!

Cheers
Paul

The perfect reflections give good idea of calm waters. A simple and well executed photo. The muted colors in reflection and concrete hard rock seems to be like reality sorrounded by dreams. Goodluck.8.

Interesting shot! The only negative I see is the rock at the bottom. The rest of the picture has a hazy / dreamy quality and then there is that rock. The sharpness and slight overexposure sticks out and ruins the mood. Maybe a little blurring of the rock would have helped. Otherwise, nice job.
