Whenever anyone asked him about Zen, the great master Gutei would quietly raise one finger into the air. A boy in the village began to imitate this behavior. Whenever he heard people talking about Gutei's teachings, he would interrupt the discussion and raise his finger.

Gutei heard about the boy's mischief.

When he saw him in the street, he seized him and cut off his finger. The boy cried and began to run off, but Gutei called out to him.

When the boy turned to look, Gutei raised his finger into the air.

At that moment the boy became enlightened.

after challenge comment:
It seems that quite alot of people were more concerned with what my "rocks" were made with. yes it was blue homemade playdoh. It also seems that quite a few adults forget how soothing playdoh can be.

The thumb nail look so good with this one..... My only suggestion would be that I prefer to have seen an odd number of rocks rether than four, say five or three.

Cliche... and yet it works :) I don't think there are rocks (dough?) but it still looks nice. Good choice of blue color as it makes it little different from other such shots.7.

blue playdoh? very clever! it's very pretty and likeable, though for me i think something is missing; it doesn't really have that BAM! factor... i think perhaps the white background feels a little overpowering. a pale blue, or a grey, or even a mirror might be worth playing with. still, i think it's very cute. kind of a zen for pre-schoolers. 8.

This is very nice, simple and calm. I really am not feeling for the color, I think a softer more natural color would have worked better in this. The color really stands out too harshly against the white background, which disrupts the overall attempt at serenity.
