I just love this image so very much, as I can almost feel his soul.
You have a special look that I really like when taking portraits, and look forward to seeing many more from you.

I am sorry this one did not do better. I gave it a 9, because I really thought you did an awesome job in your processing. You took a chance, and it shouldn't deter you from doing other artistic and creative shots. It just isn't something dp likes, I guess. I have a portfolio full of shots they don't like.

Would have been just as good of a shot without all the PP.

The photo is great, but I am not really into the contrasted color. Maybe a B&W would work well for this. :)

A marvelous capture.
The post-processing here hurts this for me. Perhaps too much shadow/highlight adjustments and an uneven/unusual burn/darkening at the top.
I would love to try my hand at the original after the challenge.

Interesting character. Potentially a fine photo but two things in post are over the top IMO: Sharpening; and Color Saturation. Better again IMO to back off a bit on these.

Wow, is this for real or taken from a photo? Incredible. My favorite!

Great textures in his face. But this is too processed for me.

This has potential to be a great shot but feel like it has been way over processed.

Great capture of emation but WAY oversharpened.

This is a wonderful image, but for my taste, it's robbed of its quality by postprocessing, particularly shadow/highlight and saturation. This guy has an awesome face - love his eyes and beard.

I think this could have been a stunning shot, but, I'm, it seems overprocessed to me. Maybe that was the effect you were trying to achieve, but it just doesn't appeal personally.

An interesting character study, but I'm betting this would have been much better without all of the processing. It looks like waaaay too much dodging and burning was done here, I'm afraid.

I'm not sure if the edit hurts or helps but nice capture of a moment in time.

The bright overprocessed look doesn't work for me with this photo.

I really like this but I think the grundge was too much. Maybe a little less.

What a great pic and very good processing. Has so much personality.

Cute guy, but what looks like hard or vivid light blending is putting purple in his face and blue in his mouth. Possibly, backing off the saturation might let you get away with more of these fun processing distortions. A good idea, maybe just a little too extreme.

too overprocessed for my taste. this guy probably has enough character and soul without any PS

interesting processing. i think you took just a little too far for my tastes but it does make it look more like art than a photo.

The filter you have used makes the shot look almost 2-D and very very flat, I think I see what you were trying to acheive (that rustic blues kinda theme).

Massive over sharpenning! Also, the over saturation of the cloths is a bit too much and the hat is blown out.

What character! Wonderful job! Love the way the saturation brings out the beard.

i think what makes this shot really interesting is the red and blue outfit he is wearing. not only are the colors very vibrant but they provoke some different emotions and feelings being that they are the U.S. colors. we've all heard about the contreversy of hurricane katrina and the lack of support from the government ... so the fact that such a classic new orleans fellow, who was probably affected by the hurricane, happens to be wearing the US colors. i hope that makes sense. :) anyways.... 8

I'm not quite sure why you choose to go with this type of over-processing. this man clearly has a very interesting face...perhaps b+w would have been a better option.

There is a lot of emotion in this picture, but I think you used sharpen mask too much.
