Challenge: Camera "Self Portrait" (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D
Location: My livingroom
Date: Aug 11, 2006
Aperture: f/4.5
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/2.5
Date Uploaded: Aug 14, 2006

This turned out to be a lot of fun. I used 8 mirrors, held in place by all kinds dishtowels, lenscaps, napkins, books, a piece of iron, just so that I could get a few different angles of my wonderful Nokon D70.
Curves, Sharpness and Color Mode in Nikon Capture.
Levels in Photoshop, and a selective color layer too. Curves again and USM of course. Save for web.
I took a shot of the setup :) as I thought maybe this would be a shot someone might think was made of more than one exp.
I have posted the setup in my portfolio, :/ couldn't figure how to put it here

Greetings from the Critique Club

First off, I LOVE reading your description! Isn't amazing the things we do to get pictures sometimes. I will go look at the setup in your portfolio in a bit.

I thought this was a very good shot when I voted during the challenge - it wasn't a static, head-on shot, which to me indicates a good imagination - you gave it some thought and effort and to me, it paid off. I really like the color and lines created by the intersections of the mirrors. The slightly different angles give each reflection a slightly different look, which creates interest and keeps the viewer engaged.

The lighting is good - I like that there's no significant glare in the lens face. Focus is pretty good, particularly for a reflection. The word "Nikon" could be just a tad sharper but again, since it's a reflection, that's hard to do.

A well done shot, and a great interpretation of the challenge.

I really like this. Very clever!! Would be fun to see the setup shot, because I like your description of it - all those towels and other odds & ends.
