Shot while working on flower images, at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum. Early morning after an all night rainstorm. Off camera diffused fill flash used to gain depth of field, and deal with wildly variable natural lighting. Used Nikkor 60mm macro, manual exposure. Shot RAW, leveled, white balanced, contrast adjusted in Nikon Capture, cropped for composition in Photoshop 7.

Wow. tough critics! I really like the colors in this one. The black bg helps it stand out. Interesting little insect with very good focus and lighting. I love all of the water on the flower. You might clone out the bottom right corner to just black now that you can edit. Otherwise, I'm not sure that you can really improve on this. It may be possible to burn some of the lighter water areas on the flower so that it isn't so bright. It's a very nice macro though!

Great colours and details.

Nice landing spot for this ugly bugger. Fly detail seems a bit soft.

Shlurp. Nice and sharp - good detail. I'd crop out the empty space to the right of the flower.

very nice....I like all the droplets

I think the fly took away from the rose here. It would have been a better rating by me without.

nice fly - it might possibly have had more impact with more of the rose cropped out

Really great detail on the fly. Waterdroplets are absolutely beautiful and really makes this shot shine. The pink color of the flower brings the piece out of the darker background.
