Shot a couple of dead trees and made the sky menacing. Tried to give an overall feeling of impending doom. Feels like a Mysterious forest I'm going into.
I can already see lots of DNMC comments, but I liked this more for the dark feeling.
I tried my hand at HDR with this one too. I'll be posting it as an outtake.
The PP includes: Convert from RAW (first for me), Crop, adjusted brightness/contrast, levels, then added 2 photo filter layers (Cooling80 and Deep Emerald). I then did a little dodging and burning to give character to the clouds. The rest is usual... Flatten, resize, USM and save for web.
Thanks in advance for comments and voting.

Hi from the Critique Club!

For me, this photo doesn't hold my attention for too long. The exposure seems to be what you were going for (meaning black trees and the dark blue sky) but the composition could use some work. The alignment of the trees that you have captured, along with the "personalities" of the trees (How the branches spread, the angles, points, leaves and all) are presented here a little flat. Also, there is a distracting blob in the upper portion that seems to be haunting this photo and doesn't seem to be doing anything for it. I guess there isn't enough interesting elements to give this photo any real life.

Having said that, I want you to know that I think this idea is really something that you could work with. I like the contrast of black again that pretty blue. Maybe if you could find a different angle to shoot from that may help.

That's just my two cents.

:)

Dramatic clouds and nice sillohette...but not really capturing magic and mystery for me.

I'll give you that the forest appears dark and mysterious here. But the composition and silhouettes of the trees don't grab me. I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but that's the case with a lot of images I rate as a 5, which I'm doing here. To me, that means it meets the challenge and it's a decent shot, but it's not really great. 5.

I just love the "eerie" blue tones here, and this works for me.....

Nicely dramatic, but lets us down in the end. I just don't feel it here. 4
