post challenge: to answer steve, yes, i wish i had not cut off my foot. didn't notice until i got home... it was still the best pose of the series of self portraits.

living in west tennessee, there arn't any deserts near by, but they're clearing off land for a new subdivision next to ours, so i waited until sundown on the last day to take these.

the fuzzy horizon is just a quick clone job to cover the trees with some fake mountains. i finally figured out how to get them right, but ran out of time to try again. this was submitted with about 2 seconds to spare...

thanks again to everyone for all the nice comments...

Boy, you got that one right! Very funny! Actually, the car was there with one broken side window, but the camera equipment was gone. Major bummer! It felt the same as if the car were gone, though. :(
Like the image and the concept... fits the challenge topic well, at least for me. The background horizon looks a little strange with all those fuzzy spots. Did you do something to the image or is that the way the horizon was? Being the nitpicker that I am, I'd either cut off more of the legs and highlight the upper body or include the whole right shoe in the composition. Having minor elements only partially within the frame without a specific reason acts as a viewer distraction.
Bottom line... I like sunsets, the image is funny even though it reminds me of one of the lower moments of my trek and it shows how desolate I felt at times. Nice job getting all that in one image. - Steve

Nice composition. I like the play of colors as well, kind of wish there was a bit more of the yellowy orange in it though. The title is cute, never saw that movie.. wonder if its worth it. Anyway, a few nitpicks: Cutting off part of the feet, slight softness in the horizon.. and that's about it. I gave a 6

Several of the photos I've seen so far in this challenge seem like they took a picture and then titled it to fit the challenge even though the photo has nothing to do with Steve. Your's on the otherhand is perfect!
