Critique Club Review:
Nice sharp focus on the subject. I really like the way the gold of the sun fades into a rose colored sky. A take without the tree present might increase the feeling of solitude. The way the umbrella gives a good strong silhouette, yet the fabric glows in the sun is great.
There is a little halo along the horizon, but what the heck. I think it adds to the mood of the piece, and the picture might not be as strong without it.
If there is anything that I would really change, it would be the border. It could be an optical illusion that the bottom is thicker than the top. I would have prefered a more symetrical border, personally.
I have no idea why anyone voted a 1-2-3 on this piece, even accounting for different tastes. Good job! (notice I did not say sir. ;-) |

| Rich, vibrant colour. I am not a fan of such a large border, especially on the top and bottom of the image. The image is very eye grabbing though. |

Lots of wow factor for me. The detail in the umbrella designs is very cool!
I think if you spend some more time with this applying advanced editing techniques, it might be worth the work to paint/sharpen the ground and horizon outlines and blend in the saturation halos. |

| Wow! That's pretty! The lace of the umbrella works so beautifully with the sunset to create a silhouette with sufficient detail and beauty to hold the interest. I'm not sure I like the heaviness of the tree top at the top right hand corner, especially as it's not really anchored by a tree trunk. It's kind of a dark splodge just hanging there. I wonder if moving a few steps left or right or just framing slighly differently would create a stronger composition? |

| This is my favourite. The pattern in the umbrella and the sunset colours are fantastic. Not overly fond of your border but I won't hold that against you. |

Fab image here. Nice interesting silhouette and as for the colour, its gorgeous. If I were nit picking, the tree that encroaches into the left of the frame is a little distracting, but nothing a little cloning couldn't deal with.

I'm debating on whether or not I'd like this more with the background sharp as well as the umbrella. I like this image, and I think it meets the challege.
