Challenge: Scene It! (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Olympus C-5500SZ
Location: Living room of my house, Lumby B.C.
Date: Aug 28, 2006
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/3 second
Date Uploaded: Aug 29, 2006

First of all I had to have the cooperation of my parents to pose in this one, and originally dad doesn't have that much hair... so I had to cut up a girls wig to tape to his head, darken his eye brows and mustache with mascarra. Mom's part was fairly easy, I just straightened her hair and took off her glasses.

Set up of the scene, I conveiniently already had a broken door(long story) so I just found the best corner in the house to prop it up against, then I used an old tri light dimmed on dad's face, and a halogen, layed down on a foot stool so it could be angled shining right in my mom's face. Then hung a dark sheet behind my dad to keep the background dark. And after that it was only getting the right facial expressions and in the right light.

Post processing was fairly simple, just cropped, adjusted the contrast, sharpened and then saved for web.

Here's a link to the original scene which I was trying for

Tough photo to control the lighting (you have two subjects in to completely different light)but a great idea and execution. Very nice comp too.

Shouldent she be looking at the ax, rather than into the air?

I like this one out of all the other "shining" entries. Made me laugh!

this is a good recreation, but the girls face seems alittle too much fake acting. but way to give the rest of it that movie feel

Fun acting

i dont get the psyko feel.. He looks allmost happy and she looks fake-scared. nice idea, but i think it could have been done alot better..

The lighting on this seems kind of harsh to me, but you have done a nice job with the set up.

pretty good set up. lighting is pretty harsh on the right side. for me both expressions seem off. not crazy enough and not scared enough. extra point for the set up though.

What a fun photo, though the axe seems rather small compared to "jack's" face.

Some people will do anything to get a new door . . . like it!

Too staged .. the woman's expression is very fake.

very good...is the low contrast on purpose? you guys need acting lessons as the poses are unconvincing...the axe did a great job ;-))) 7

++ for actually smashing through something with an axe. That's commitment for you.

well done but no resemblance in characters

The female model really could have done with looking more scared, the expression just doesn't look terrified, maybe you should have scared her a little properly for effect ;0) Good luck.

Hey this is cool but the lady doesnt look scared >.<
