Square frame and abstract - another sure fire winner on DPC!

I took a shot of a wrought iron chair standing on gravel outside the restaurant of The Vyne country house. I liked the shape and proportions and the simplicity of the image. I then cropped the image to balance to ROT and also ensured that the chair back was open - i.e. no fixed hard line from the brace at the foot of the back. I then made the pebble/gravel backgroung more abstract by boosting the colour and driving up the contrast.

My kinda picture, Carl! I like this quite a bit. Of course, what I like and what the voters at DPC like tend to be rather different... :-)

I can't see in which direction this picture was taken, and this distracts me, nice clean colours

Good idea and interesting subject. It's almost abstract. The only thing holding this back for me is the composition (well, and the size - I recommend always using the full 640 on a side). I think it would be more dynamic and meet the challenge more strongly in a landscape crop with the clover shape centered on the top left thirds line intersection.
