Challenge: A Single Tree (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC for Canon
Location: Toronto
Date: Sep 10, 2006
Aperture: 4.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/640
Galleries: Cityscape, Nature
Date Uploaded: Sep 10, 2006

Levels, curves, a lot of dodging & burning to bring out the foreground and subdue the background.

I figured there would be a lot of beautiful, scenic tree shots in this challenge, so I went the other way.

Haha, didn't give me any good luck with the score this time. This shot was well-hated by all. :-D

Hey I saw that near the rogers center (SKYDOME, WHY WOULD YOU CHANGE THE NAME YOU PHREAKEN IDIOTS) and I frog hopped it. :-) I think it's pretty new. Can't post my shots from Toronto cause of the free study.

The background is really washed out.

Nice job! Not sure I totally agree with the brightness of the background, but you've got a vision ...well done!

I see that the tree is straight, but that should not be done at the expense of the horizon. Also, the dodge on the background is too extreme. It makes it look washed out and distracting. If you wanted to de-emphasize the background detail, I would suggest using burn to darken it. Bright areas tend to draw the eye and distract.

Great message. Did they plant another one in its place?

A shallower DOF would of worked better in my opinion. The way your photograph is makes the background busy and distracting. Interesting find.

I think the overexposed background really detracts from the image. Love the title, and the idea you were going for. 3

ROFL funny title. With the blanched out cars, what if you did this in high key black and white? Hmmm just a thought.
