| this is the kinda shot that i was gonna take but I decided not to. really nice photo, the roots are great. I think the background might be a little bright, but I'll give it a 9. -Konador |

| This is a good composition and being in black and white helps it I think because of the trunks and roots being in shadow and the foliage behind the tree being bathed in sunlight shows a huge contrast difference that may have been understated if in color. Initially, I couldn't decide if the branch in the upper left added or detracted from the overall photo but I think it does belong there and breaks up the bright whites of the background foliage. Nice job. |

| Exactly my style. I can't help but rate this one highly. Only detraction is the lack of evocation of oldness. It's there, but it's fairly oblique. |

| Tree and roots are just a tiny bit dark for my taste - I would have liked to be able to see more of the complexity of the roots, but otherwise, I really like this photo |

| I like the post processing that makes the trees in background go white. The problem with it though is that it makes the darks very dark without much definition. |

| Great Black & White! Almost looks like an infra-red photo. Great choice of the use of B&W. |
