Camera: Canon PowerShot G6
Location: Michigan City, IN
Date: Sep 22, 2006
Aperture: F/8

Shutter: 1/25 sec.

I've wanted to do this type of shot since I saw what KarenNfld did in the previous abstract macro challenge. It's a macro of a CD put in the microwave for 5 seconds.

I tried to get clean, vivid colors in this version. Light used was the ceiling fluorescent above left, and a penlight to get the white spot.

Well said. I tried to make mine a bit different; hopefully I did. I have no plans to do this again, but if somebody else does I can't wait to see their own twist on it!

Great job Ken. You had better results than I trying to duplicate this shot.

Not something that really holds my attention for any long amount of time, but the colours and fractal quality definitely grab my eye immediately.

If it weren't so colorful it would be creepy. In a good way. Nice.

One of two similar pictures in the challenge, but this one is superior IMO. Great sharpness and I like the "cleanness" of the color areas.

I expected to see more of these this time around. I even tried it myself, but didn't submit one. You did a nice job of keeping the gradient smooth through the color transitions. Nice work.

very strong execution - i'd rate it higher if this technique hadn't so recently attained such prominence on this site.

Very cool. Reminds me of one of the top ten images in the first abstract macro challenge. Excellent vivid colors!!!

Nice, although I do not know what is supposed to look like this.

There is one similar photo, I'll google it to see what it really is ... 8, bumped to 9, good luck.
