| interesting shallow DOF here, although it might have worked better having the entire mushroom in focus, rather than just the front edge and a slice of the ground |

| The blurred background looks great. I think the foreground does not need the same effect, and maybe could be cropped out. |

| I would bet that this isn't currently scoring very well. Its not within typical DPC tastes. For me at least, the image is intriguing but seems to be 'unfinished.' A guess here - you were working with high ISO as you were in deep shade. I'm guessing you were using a Canon but that is irrelevent. I think this image needs the bottom blur cropped out - as a viewer, it makes me take a stutter step when entering the image. this will also pull the main subject a little more off center and really force me to look at the detris of the forest floor whose colors and patterns I find fascinating. The focus is good, but slightly deeper would have been better. This would build a connection between the mushroom and the detris that is stronger than what is here. An interesting subject for the challenge that I could explore for a while. Unfortunately you won't find many voters willing to spend the time. Good Luck! |
