I've been wanting to go on a shoot on a foggy night for a while now, and I finally found some free time. Here's one of the results. I know I'm going to get railed for the overexposure and soft focus, but I personally think it adds to the theme of the photo. I'm hoping this does better than my last few entries...
Procedure:
Set up my tripod across the pond from this peninsula, set the timer for 10 seconds and then BOLTED around the shoreline to get to that bench, in the dark on the slippery grass in the fog. Didn't quite make it in time, so I'm only in the photo for half of the exposure, but I liked the ghost effect.
Bumped the exposure compensation up to make it more dream-like (and also make a car disappear behind glare) in RAW, opened in photoshop, cropped (fairly tightly actually), converted to B&W by channel mixer, ran through neat image a couple times, cloned out a beam of light that was going through my head, maybe played with curves a bit, did some more neat image on just the peninsula itself, added border and saved for web. |

I actually like the whiteness of this photo. Its so white that it looks intentional. The figure sitting on the bench really stands out in this photo. You've created a very effect atmosphere. |

The glassiness of the water is very nice here, but I find the bright white spots to be a little distracting in the upper half of the photo. |

I like the softness and composition of the shot, but the white areas are just a bit too bright, making it difficult to let your eye wander around the shot smoothly. |

Honestly, this is the most effective I've ever seen overexposure be. It truly seems to work here for the mood that you seem to be creating. |

really good effect, though the light seems a little blown in some areas. |

I like the contrast and blown areas. A very artistic shot, I think, well done! |

I see a lot of blow outs in this one. |

wonderful effect. you got skills. exciting composition, too. thank you for not putting the ghost on the "intersection of the thirds". I'll start this at 8. |

There is too much contrast between the lights and the land and bench for me, too much detail is lost. |
