 A convoluted grape vine is all that's left after the leaves have blown away or died; shot into the sun through the leaves of some trees at different angles; this image had the best feel and lighting...levels, curves, usm, desaturate, hue/saturation to colorize, crop...

thank you for the comments; as you know my pictures are usually strange and it is rare that I score well... so it is pleasing that my photography appeals to some of the voters and that I received quite a few high votes...

hmmm... i love these tones!! i just wish the background could be reversed so that the top part of the vine would be in front of the lighter zone... I love this shot nevertheless!

Interesting almost abstract take on it. The grass behind the vine adds a nice texture without making it too busy.

What a terrific image. To me this is what this challenge is all about. A great contrast between the subject matter and its surrounds. Very dramatic and beautiful.

Cool pattern on the front and nice patterns and light in the back. My only wish would be for a little less shadow on the vine. I would ike to se emore detail on it. Advabced editing rules may have helped. In general a pleasing image.

Not sure if I like the very bright area at the upper right, but overall it's an excellent image and the colours are wonderful.
