Met the challenge better than anybody IMO, and sadly under-rated. I would have probably masked and painted out the details of the shirt's texture near his cheek with a very slight blur to bring the attention more completely to his compelling face.

This is a really fun portrait. Wonderful expression. Nice warm tones overall. The composition is nice as well. One minor "wish" is that the eyes were as sharply focused as the shoulder and the foremost hairlock on his forehead. They're not overly soft, just slightly behind the optimum focal plane. Nicely done! Good luck in the challenge.
