 This was an experiment to see how the image would turn out without back, side or front lighting. Photographed with only a 100 watt overhead can lighting. Vase was placed on an irridescent silver paper. No flash; however, the results were on the dark side, and ultimately I lightened it a bit in Photoshop, cropped an edge that was showing and desaturated some. Being irridescent, the bend in the paper resulted in 2 colors where the light hit. After that bit of adjusting in PS, I was then satisfied that the image was good enough to submit in the challenge. We shall see. As I said, this was an experiment.

Interesting background you have going on here, two different light sources? Good exposure on the vase, perfect. This vase has some very interesting texture, which, in combination with a different light source could yeild some interesting shadows.

This is a nice image. The terra cotta goes well with your choice of background and lighting. The coral/peach color along the horizon brings out the color in the vase. I also like the way the light plays on the surface - it gives me an impression of a sunset viewed through a cloud layer so the light and color is diffused. I do find the white light a bit harsh where it is centered in the background. It looks as though there is a barrier between it and the subject, but its still a little bright especially compared to the soft color along the image's horizon. Focus is great, nice and crisp. 6
