What the DQ really gets at is that I used the DISTORT tool to crop rather than actually cropping. I selected the entire image, and basically pulled the right corner down and to the right. It did distort the pilings and reflections a little, but it's quite subtle. I just wanted to get the pilings centered and eliminate some objects at the edge of the frame on the right. Many folks upon inspecting this and the original couldn't tell what I had done at all. Well, live and learn!

These are pilings at Promontory Point, 30 miles south of the famous Promontory Point where the transcontinental railroad was completed with the golden spike. It's a really amazing place that I like to go to a lot!

I liked the sunset lights on this one.
Disqualification Details
The use of any type of selection tool is prohibited except to select a non-feathered, non-anti-aliased rectangular area for cropping.

David, I'm one that reeeeally feels your disappointment. The same thing happened to me on a photo that made people wonder why it got DQ'd!

This is such a gorgeous photo! I'll always see it with a blue ribbon under it!

I'm really drawn into this picture. I'd say the horizon looks crooked but the point of entry for the front two posts is dead on, so this works for me. The lighting is stunning, too. In my top 10.
