 So I went out for the first time this weekend as I'm sick as a dog, but how could I miss out on this challenge, had to go out to get some fresh (& oh so cold) fresh air. I took about 15 shots of another scene thinking I had my entry right there, but on the way back home I snapped one of this pier, and the HDR tools liked it too :)

Thank you to everybody for your kind comments, much appreciated. The extensive post processing was a risk but it was worth it, the picture as you can see below isn't worth much by itself. It's just the way poor photographers compensate :)

This is my favorite picture in this category, you should've placed atleast 5th or lower. But congrats, 13 is still pretty nice :)

The horizion in the background seems off though I'm sure it is a battle with all the horizontal lines in the bridge. Either way I love the tones. Very moody image.

Nice use of leading lines, and seems technically well done.

I have a couple of suggestions and you are free to take them as you wish.

First, the horizon seems a bit tilted to the right. It may just be an optical trick due to the shoreline on the right side, but it looks tiled a bit to me.

Second, your viewpoint seems to be basically eye-level, which results in the centered horizon and the point of convergence for the leading lines dead center in the image. It makes for a very static composition. You might want to experiment with a noticably lower or, if possible, higher viewpoint.
