I wanted to step outside of the box for this challenge. Sure I could have shot a cowboy hat, but what's the fun in that? ;) While gas masks tend to be a bit overdone in artsy-fartsy stuff, I thought that a spray paint respirator might not be too bad. I knew I wanted to find a wall covered in graffiti (since it would kinda make sense with the paint respirator), so I headed towards the nearest old bridge. And lo and behold - graffiti under the bridge! Who would have guessed?! :)
I framed the part of the wall I wanted, and then had my friend look through the viewfinder and help me position myself. Oh yeah, that's me in the mask if you hadn't guessed by now. :) I intentionally shot this at ISO 1600 to make it as grainy as possible. As soon as I got into just the right position in the frame, my friend told me and I used my remote to snap the photo. I intentionally used washed out and acidic colors for the shot, because I wanted to have that "Joey Lawrence" feel to it. I already know this is going to be slammed by voters for "not being on his head so is not headwear" and "advocating graffiti", but I really don't care. I really love this shot, so there! :D |

You know how it is when you're voting & you're looking at image after image -- it gets a bit mechanical. This one takes a little thought in order to appreciate it & though I didn't score it low I'm sure I would have scored it higher had I studied it a bit more. Lesson learned on my part, anyway! It is a nice shot & probably would have done better in an advanced editing challenge where you could bring back a bit of the mask. |

Ahhh, looks like facewear to me. Also, not sure what the title signifies. I do like the noise look though. Give it kind of a grundgy look. However, in my opinion...DNMC |

Great composition and excellent technicals. This has a very post-apocalyptic feel with the respirator. Great job! |
