 I had a lot of fun shooting this picture and dozens of others like it. I started primitive, just a pile of Christmas lights on a black cloth in a dark room. Camera on a crummy old tripod. I began with a relatively short shutter speed, and eventually made it longer and longer and started moving the camera during the shot. This is what I came up with, leaving the shutter open for 8 seconds.

PP included Contrast, Slight Saturation Increase, Sharpen, and Despeckle.
