Minor ice storm in Ottawa area left lots of trees down and lots of pretty icing (literally) on branches etc.

Post-shoot editing: crop, brightness/contrast, unsharp, resize, save for web.

I think this is very under-rated. I gave it a 9. The design, color, and sparkle of the ice are very pleasing. It fits the challenge in IMO. I think patterns are valid subjects for art, but here, people demand a focal point.

At first glance this picture seems to be about death, as green things die in ice, but it's neat that these aren't just leaves but needles of plants that stay like this throughout the winter. Good concept - I do think that it probably wasn't appreciated as much as it should have been.

This image doesnt really grab my attention. It feels a bit too busy to really highlight the ice crust and the bokeh isnt really pronounced. Everything just seems to belnd together into one mass.

Good thought. The pic is a bit complex, maybe simpler stronger lines would make it stand out more.
