you know, just re-reading all the comments on this, i thought: those who don't know what this is are lucky, very lucky. those who do know instantaneously, the gut felt recognition of a shared, aw(e)ful (in both meanings of the word) experience. |

I think a little less grain and just a bit more detail in the person and this image would be a killer. Great concept. |

This has got to be one of the most underrated images I've ever seen on DPC. Just because it isn't crisp and sharp and full of literal meaning. Keep making pictures like this, please. |

wot shamer said ... "I'd trust the average DPC voter to spot a great a photo like I'd trust my 3yo to drive me cross country blindfolded" ... i couldnt have put it better myself ... coz i've had similar thoughts about many challenges ...
your photo just jumped out at me today .. i hadnt seen it before ... it is a superb work ..
it slowly dawned on me what this picture is about, because it wasnt immediately obvious ... and the title is exceptional ...
it is a wonderful image not just because of the excellent treatment, grain, composition, colour, EVERYTHING! ... but the emotion it brings out in the viewer .. i reckon thats wot photography is all about and to create an emotion in another person with a photograph is awesome ..
my condolences to you and your family ...

Wow - this really should have done better. I recall coming across someone saying the following in the forums:
"I'd trust the average DPC voter to spot a great a photo like I'd trust my 3yo to drive me cross country blindfolded" [paraphrased]
This WAS a very powerful image & my thoughts are with your family. |

150 out of 226. Unbelievable...and shame on the voters. It was one of the most powerful images in the bunch and spoke volumes without an explaination. And, now...we know the true story. Thank you so much for sharing a part of your life with us...this is what it's all about in my humble opinion. Saving to favs. Brightest Blessings. |

Just had to conceal identity for dignity on this family member who spent Christmas in Heaven. sunken eyes and an oxygen tube for breathing make this difficult to identify |

This was a family member at a nursing home.Grain was in part to conceal identity but also I felt it showed her soul departing her body and entering heaven. This was a tough emotional shoot for me but she understands my love for photography, people, emotions and did nothing but encourage this picture.Looking closely you see the nasal canula (oxygen tube)She has since departed here but smiles down on my improvement on this website and the challenge results.I remember her chuckling at my first attempt light on white. thanx for comment and vote I can relate GOD bless you

I AM TAKING CARE OF A TERMINALLY ILL PERSON WHO HAS ABOUT LESS THAN 6 MONTHS TO LIVE BUT I DID NOT HAVE THE HEART TO PHOTOGRAPH HIM. HE FIGHTS WITH HIS EVERY BREATH TO LIVE. ITâS BEEN SO LONG SINCE I HAVE PICKED UP MY CAMERA. YOUR PICTURE LOOKS LIKE âMY LIFEâ FOR THE LAST 7 MONTHS, I AM THE CAREGIVER AND I SEE THIS IMAGE EVERY DAY/NIGHT.
VERY MOVING PICTURE! 10

Very emotive - almost miss the O2 tube at first & therefore the setting :: good choice for added grain -- 8 -- |

I love the artistic treatment. The grain and the negative space add a sort of ambiguity that really illustrate the theme of passing over. Nice work. Adding this one to my favourites. |

Very nice effect. How did you do this with basic editing -- put something in front of the lens? |
