This is going to be a spiel to describe this so here goes:

I took 5 pictures at a time, panning the skyline. Each picture was taken with the same aperture and shutter speed. I did this 5 times over a period of 3 hours. Well more like 20 but only 5 "sweeps" made it in. These pictures were converted from RAW to JPG.
I took each sweep and stitched them together to create 5 images. I then lined them up in GIMP as layers. The canvas size of the overall image was increased to allow room to move the layers. Each layer had a transparency of 20% except the bottom layer which remained at 100%

I then cropped the image. I exported this image and used sharpen, saturation, a graduated filter in Picasa. This was then exported to GIMP. I then selected everything below the sky and copied it as a layer. This layer then was used to lighten the bottom.

The image was then resized to its final size. (720 X 220). A small bit of gaussian blur was applied to smooth things a bit then another run through sharpening.

So 122 pictures, 5 stitched shots, 5 layers, 2 programs, and several cups of coffee later...I have THIS image to show for it. If this submission gets less than a 5 I'm going to print it out, take a gallon of green paint and drown it. Then I might get drunk.

This is very way cool! I'll bet it looks great in a larger format, too. A whole lotta work, but a very good image to show for it!

Nicely done in many ways however the border is a bit of a problem for me. I see that you are trying to show a nice panoramic view but unfortunatly for me you've given up a little drama for width. Would love to see the full size version as I believe it would be quite powerful. :)

Nice panorama. I think it's a bit too small, but that's not your fault.

I don't care for the white borders. Other than that, this is a great shot.
