Two image composite. The sky, and me.

Both images shot in RAW: Various RAW adjustments to both, tone mapped the sky in Photomatix.

PS:
Cropped and lined up the 2 images
Added contrast on sky, even more contrast overall
Bumped the blacks on the whole thing
Desat and hue shift on me (no color changes to the sky)
Masked off the unwanted areas of me
Lots of dodging, burning, and blurring all over the place

My first thought when I saw this was that the shadow around the central oval of sky was going the wrong way - it should be on the inner portion of the border so that it looks more like there is a hole in the head. But then I realized that it was perfect this way as his head truly is "in" the clouds. I think this is a great image with a lot of symbolism.

I like the simple effective tones in the picture. It all works well. Given a shirt and tie, the effect would be different. Modern clothing just doesn't have the elegance it used to have in the early parts of the last century. 9.

Very surreal. I am sure this took a good deal of effort to produce but I am not sure the result was worth the effort! 7

Wasn't there a famous painting that did something similar? I'm not too hip on your take on it. Sorry.

Perfect title for this.

Not a fan of this editing. It seems like it was done just because instead of using the new rules to enhance a photo.

I predict success for this Magritte-esque bit of surrealism. The photoshopping and even the phtography are (deceptively?) simple, there's no clutter and the whole thing is - er - comprehensible, all of which goes down well at dpc. Deserves it, too - eight from me.

Nice idea, the kind of things I was expecting to see.. Anyway, as a comment, I dont know wich was the efect you where trying to do.. if it is a hole in the face, you should have add some dept.. Like it is it seems an oval of clouds in front of the face... (maybe that`s what you were trying to do).. Good luck

edges on the "inside" of the face are a bit jagged, but I love the surrealistic approach to this. excellent

Aaack! It's toilet-seat-face-guy! ;-) j/k - I see what you are trying to do here - it's sooo transparent! heeheeee.
Interesting, but it doesn't do anything for me.

Wow, the view burned a hole right through your face!!! This is cool. Now I'm trying to figure out who you are. ;~D Neat PP man! I guess if I could maybe nitpick one thing - have the sky "match" so the blank space where the face should be is lined up with the clouds behind the head, if that makes sense.
