Great idea. The "shavings" could be a bit sharper though

I really love a good abstract, but this is just a little too pure for me. Maybe a closer crop?

Great use of negative space. Shadow works well and makes it look like a chain link necklace.

Neat idea...I would prefer the shaving be a little darker but excellent concept.

The simplicity of this one is superb. Very gutsy submission (10)

the shape of the shaving forms a wonderful illusion of "infinity" with its shadow. it's a nice effect, at once solid and delicate. I think I would like it better with less white space, but not a *lot* less.

7. I wish the shaving was more clearly focused. The shadow in this case works well. I would like to see a version with a border, although I know that some have criticized them.

A bit too much none-shadow.

Very, very minimalistic! IMHO, it is a very good idea, but the pencil shavings are not quite clear, and neither is the distinction between shavings / shadows. The background also is not "pure". It's a great idea, though, and something worth playing with more. Maybe a bit closer, or shavings at a slightly different angle, or light that's a little less strong - I really don't know. What I'm trying to say is that I think this is a good idea, something worth exploring, but not quite there as it is. ~6

Very nice idea.
I think your object is to small and the background is to bright.
It is hard to tell the shadow from the object.
This would have been a great entry for "Negative Space".
I think overall a tighter shot and cropping would have helped a lot.
Still a high vote for me. Great idea, and setup just not 100% on the execution.
