Though handsome I don't readily see new...but after reading your title I understand he is someone you just met at sunrise..which is also new....a new day. Nice that he let you take his picture. I like this picture...I would like to have seen his hair NOT cropped out of the picture...so if you had just lifted the camera a little it would have fit into the frame. Nice portrait anyway. Good luck! |

Looks like a slightly blurred snapshot...I can't make the connection to the challenge and even the title leaves me a little confused. |

Wow, you must be on another etherical plane from me, I just don't understand this at all. NEW? New what? New friend? His first smile, first shave, first sunglasses, new ear ring? I give up. 6 Swash (sooo tempted to further downgrade....) |

Good portrait, but the background is a bit ugly. |

Doesnt quite get enough of the sunset reflected in the glasses. Great smile though. |

Is the something new suposed to be the sunset reflected in the glasses? I don't think people usually view a sun set as something new, however in a stretch, it could be viewed as a new night. I thought maybe the something new was the haircut, but then thought that if it was the haircut, than that would have been incooperated into the title. Setting that aside, the photo may have had better impact if the sunset reflected into the glasses was straight across the glasses instead of at an angle. The fact that it's all crooked makes it look more like a candid photo rather than a well thought out artistic photo. Another way to make this seem less candid and more thought out would be to straighten the shirt near the collar and find a more pleasing background. The pretty sunset is kind of washed out by the chain fence and dead grass. I do get from the title that if this was a "brief" encounter with the guy, than maybe you didn't have the opportunity to go through the trouble to ask him to move to a more pretty spot, tilt his head and straighten his shirt. And, if you didn't know him, this would be almost impossible to accomplish for the feeling of asking too much of a person you don't even know. I think that if you went back and tried this again, when you have more time to get a good really shot of it (posed with someone you knew and that would be patient for you to get a good shot), then it would have a really great effect. it's a great idea, don't ever give up and good luck with the challenge. |

I'm curious as to how this meets the challenge... I will revisit this later in the week to see if I'm missing something. Feel free to PM me if I'm missing something obvious here. ~ myqyl ~
Thanks for the insight... I can see where you were headed... I don't think you got there, but I definitely see where you were heading... |

I like this photo. It's funny (the haircut), the expression on the subject's face adds to the humor of the shot, and the photographer should get brownie points for not submitting a photo of a new puppy, baby, flower bud or sunset. |

Interesting photo... a little extra focus would be a nice improvement :) I'm lost as to what is 'new' here unless it is the haircut? :) - jmsetzler |
