Finding the figurine was easy ($1 at Goodwill). I searched all week for a vise to use until I finally just stopped at a local car repair and asked them if I could use theirs. By then, the light was fading. I asked my daughter to put her hand on the handle. I thought the barb-wire bracelet she had on would fit in well with the picture.

From reading some of the comments and seeing the 18-1’s, I guess some people were offended by my picture. While I do tend toward the irreverent, I do not intend to offend anyone with my ideas. This picture is NOT an attack on religion.

This picture is about Grace, whether based on a belief in God or in an individual’s belief in themselves. It says that Grace is sometimes the only and usually the best defense against the pressures put on us daily whether by external sources or (especially) by ourselves. I was trying to show Grace being maintained even under direct assault.

And, of course, humor will almost always play alarge roll in my pictures.

By the way, the figurine was not harmed in the making of this picture and it went back to Goodwill in the same condition it was when I bought it.

Anyway, no big deal. Thanks to everyone who left constructive criticism or compliments.

Are you the only other person here with a sense of humor? Creative interpretation of your title.

i shouldn't think this is funny, but i love it. i really like the old old old vise you've got going. i would have preferred seeing this without the foot and with very minimal amount of the hand showing (and not bracelets). otherwise, great!

What do you try to say here? That we are like the saint in God´s hands?

I like the wonderful figurine, but I wonder about the gracefull little thing's life and being smashed. Colours are beautiful.

You'd better watch out, a big bolt of lightening will come down for you at any minute!

Your foot? at the bottom left hand corner puts me off a little, would have like to have seen the whole of the statue too.
