Challenge: AA Battery (Basic Editing)
Collection: Successful Challenge Entries
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM for Nikon
Date: Dec 26, 2006
Date Uploaded: Dec 26, 2006

Post: I think this was a good challenge once again. It definitely "challenged" me photographically. My original thought was to strip the label off of a battery and make it interact a bit with the surrounding area - I stripped the battery with my hands, a razor, and some film cleaner. The stripped battery turned out to be pretty boring by itself - the "Artwork" on the "wall" her is a result of laying the strippped battery on a mirrory surface, the distorting it in photoshop, sharpening and bumping contrast - adding a border, then printing it on a laser printer. This was shot in a graphic art viewing booth - hence the clean perfect lighting. I really can't believe how well this did - I LOVE 4th PLACE!!! Note: the 10-20mm lens is capable of shootting very close to the subject and for me that's what made this shot.
---
I'm not sure when this happened bu my camera was exactly 1 year behind. I contacted the admins to say "Hey the date is right" -- except I didn't even look at the year. That mkes me wonder how many onther images have the wrong year. Ahh just looked at my images and everything beforer Dec 24th was 2006 - then the year changed - I was trying a new Speedlight I received as a gift at the time ... hmmm.
PS: THIS IMAGE was yet another 4th Place finish! -- I love 4th place.

I mean... I understand the need for a strict rule on DQs, but applied here it is most unfortunate! Especially for this challenge. I can't imagine anybody having an old image of a AA battery on their hard-drive that they've just been dying to use when such an obscure topic popped up... Great Image nonetheless!

Either way it's cute. :D Wish there was some way you could have minimized the back seam a little bit. Otherwise, quite creative. Nice job.

Definately abstract art. Had me wondering about positive/negative, Yin/Yang, black/white.....comma after nude?

Ha ha! Cute idea and really nicely done! Love the choice to have the artwork in stark black and white infront of the battery gallery visitor in colour. Composition is simple but strong.

I love it! The only reason I didn't give ya a 10 is because of the floor. Looks like the foundation of the gallery is sinking. Overall I love the creative effort:).

Great and funny idea. Very fresh. I don't care for the minor imperfections where the "floor" meets the wall. Overall effect is extraordinary among this challenge entries. How did you do the "nude" picture?

Personally, I think you should have left the title at 'Nude Abstract'. I also think I'd rather see the front of the battery...however, I really like the photo and I'm giving it a 10.
