This reminds me of your best of entry from last year. Without the deer of course. ;)

The lighting here is what makes this shot! Well done!

wonderful...such a gentle shot, so alive I can almost hear the sounds of birds and leaves blowing...

This warrants a bump and wanted to express to you how superb the timing was on this - stunning use of natural lighting!

This is just wonderful!!! The only tweak I would suggest is to crop out the tree on the far right to place the bird further from the center of the frame.

Great quality of light and the "posed" bird make for a good shot. 9

This is beautiful, the sun ray going on the crow is great.

Amazing scenery. And the overlit part just adds mystique to the image.

awesome lighting! I love it. I've been sitting under the trees in my woods almost every day the last month trying to catch this. we've only had foggy evenings and boring sunsets:) oh well. very beautiful!

The forest by itself is a bit boring, but the birds make it interesting and add a sense of intrigue. Nicely done. 7

Beautiful play of light and shadows.

The lighting and color is gorgeous, but I find the jagged outlines distracting. They are quite noticeable on the crow in the middle. Also there are thin halos around the two right trees, and along the top and bottom of the image. Doesn't look like USM, but maybe some other form of sharpening done too aggressively?

The black frame is not good. Great photo otherwise.

Holy crap, that's stunning! One of a small handfull in this challenge that made me stop and stare for a solid minute atleast. Everything in this just works so well. The lighting, the focus. I feel like I could reach out and touch the birds you've captured so perfectly. Bravo.

Nice picture, but the letter boxing is annoying.

This would have been a 10 for me if not for the black borders on the top and bottom! 9.

wouldn't be the same without the raven there. excellent timing and capture.

This works for me even though the hightlights are blown on the left sice. My eye goes right to the bird and I feel the atmosphere of the light. Lovely.

Beautiful shot. The border is a bit odd - like when you have your telly set to the wrong aspect ratio for a film - but the colour and light are absolutely stunning.

Oh this is nice. Reminds me of the setting of the winning autumn cat shot. Love the bird, although he seems slightly out of focus to me.

Ah, but the carrion crows have so much more sinister an implication, no? This might be Arthurian, with a (correct) suggestion of a pointless deluded struggle to the death - and a lonely death at that. The serenity of the natural world in the cafe of our mortality?

01/12/2007 04:26:02 AM
great photo, don't like the "film" border

01/12/2007 12:44:40 AM
This would be better without the black bars. Either give it a complete border or no border. This feels like a cropping mistake.
