To me the centered horizon does not work in that case. It is often used to suggest infinity, but is this case the foreground denies that perception.

Good idea, with the busy sky and nearly feature-less water. But the whole image is a bit too dark, there's a mismatch between the apparent sunlight and the overall darkness. Also, I'd prefer a composition that included a solid line of the trees at the bottom (rather than just barely including a few tops).
