 I loved the contrast between the painting in the background and the subject in the foreground.

Lit with a chimera bank, Arri 300w.

Burned, sharpened, converted to B/W via CS3 beta.

I don't know what some bozo gave you a 1 on lighting. It may not be a traditional lighting pattern, but who the hell cares. I would not change a thing about it. I am sad that it onlt placed 38. I thought for sure this would be top 10. Good job!

Love this shot. Would have thought a Top 10 for sure if not a ribbon. I actually like that it's a full body shot and not just concentrating on the face.

doing the Bruce Willis thing...? I like this, just wish you hadn't sacrificed face detail for the full body...I would have cropped to belt height. But it's interesting and tells a story...there's Drama here.

I love the lighting in this photo and the fact that it is a full body shot rather than a head shot, which most photographers have gone for in this challenge (myself included!).

Nice mood you set here looks like a tough guy. I like the spot of light with the rest fading to black. The face is a touch out of focus but that really doesn̢۪t bother me. Great job :)

the smoke being forcefully exhaled would have been cool. The overhead light moved back a bit (if possible) so a little less "washing out" or bleaching of his head. Maybe a foot on a stool. Otherwise cool atmosphere!

I don't know how many are going to agree with me, but I put this in the Top 10 of the almost 500 images shot. Nice range of black and white, clever use of lighting, I like the emotion of the model and the smoke helps keep this from becoming too static. Great shot, good luck! 10.
