 This shot was taken last July during a summer lightning storm. I used av at f18 which gave me a 30 second exp. this is actually two bolts one occurred early in the exposure the second in the middle. Very minimal ps work since I am just learning PS. I am sure many of you could have post processed this much better than I. My best of 2006

I can hear the crackling of the lightning and smell that unique smell. And yet, the world goes on on the harbour. A fantastic photo, well done.

Looks like Newport Harbor from Balboa? Incredible capture there, I love how the bolts of lightning framing Balboa Pavillion. Nice job!

The whole photo is sharp and brilliantly edged like the lightning - I think the bursts of light from the buildings and ships work very well. The masts in the foreground are a bit distracting - especially with the halos around them that must be either from sharpening or shadow/highlights or the like.

I am sure this is not an easy image to take at all! Great detail in the lightning, just a shame about the bright lights on the buildings

Best: lightning obviously
Worst: foreground is bit muddled, almost with camera shake or movement, but it is distracting...
