I used a harsh light from the side (a little keyring LED torch) to bring out the texture of the matchsticks. There's a bit of white card cropped out of the shot to allow me to fix the resulting odd white balance. I used a book to mask the light from the top of the shot (it was picking up the texture of my backdrop otherwise). Sadly a few specks got through but not a lot I could do about it in Basic editing - all the global filters destroyed too much detail on the matches.

Pretty pleased with the result.

creative, maybe have some overhead lighting, so each head doesn't cast a shadow

The colors are a little cold, not sure if that was intentional or not but I rather like it. The concept is very interesting as well, I feel like that quite often.
