| Great sharpness and terrific colors. I like the overal composition. A very good understand of what makes a photo appealing. The fence is a little bit of a distraction, but not because of the design. I actually think the pattern helps here, but it is the fact that the view knows what the background entails. Still a wonderful capture. |

The fence in the background is a dead giveaway that this is a zoo or aviary shot. It doesn't make the bird any less beautiful, but it does diminish the value of the image. As long as you were dealing with a captive bird, I think it would have been good to wait until the bird was leaning a little more toward you. Also if possible, get in a position where the branch is on a more interesting angle, possibly with a little background beneath it. If the branch is a horizontal perch you might try tilting the camera.
Having said all that, I want you to know that I think the focus is good, the colors are lovely, and the Lory is adorable. I think you did a good job of capturing the sheen of the feathers without blowing out the highlights (hard to do). I hope you can go back and get lots more shots of this good subject. |

Lovely shot.
Nicely lit to one side with the natural light.
I don't think i like the stick being flat accross the bottom though. |

| Looks like the auto focus has hit the shoulder feathers and not the eye. Its always best to make sure the eye is in focus because thats where most viewers will go first. |
