This is my big mistake. I liked this shot and even though my husband kept telling me this is not even in my top 75% of my best, I kept at trying to get the photoshop adjustments just right. At the 11th hr and and 1/2 a minute to spare, I unsubmitted the shot I had in for a few days and pulled up one I thought had better adjustment to the lighting. I worked this shot so many times to get the lighting just right. To my chagrin, I pulled up the wrong one to submit and the site shut down before I realized that I pulled the wrong one back in. When the voting started I just cringed at my mistake. The whole two weeks of voting was brutal. Every comment left was dead on. I wanted so much to PM them and agree but held back from doing so. At this point I just have to move forward and try not to make this mistake again. I still like this shot and worked it a few more times in my new Corel PS. I have about 15 different saves with different lighting, color, contrast and other adjustments. Pretty ridiculous, I agree.
I have a few of the other PS images in my portfolio. I would appreciate if anyone has a comment as to whether or not the other images of this shot are any better or agree with my husband that this does not cut it no matter what I do in photoshop.

1.) Too much contrast.
2.) The large shadow right in the center without ANY detail is bad.
3.) Focus seems soft.

Nice scenerey, however it's a shame that you have that big shadow in the middle. I wonder if you could adjust the shadows and highlights to reduce the foreground expossure and bring out the details from the shadow.

i'm really not sure what to make of this. the hints of over-processing are such that i really can't tell whether the whiterock is a whiterock, or over-exposed. and, when the processing forces me to key in on the technicals aspects of an image, i start to lose whatever connection i was trying to establish with it...

Good composition but a bit too much contrast, I think. Shadow detail is non existant and the highlights are washed out.

The dark shadow just overpowers the image just a little.....

Nicely seen. In Utah? Off I-70? Enroute to/from the Utah GTG?

Couldn't see much detail. Looks a bit overprocessed.

There's a very nice depth to this image but for me this is slightly spoilt by the dark shadow in the foreground that goes across the image.

I like your composition - there is a nice broad ledge for the viewers eyes to start their journey and then the line of rocks and canyon wall leads you into the photo all the way to the distant mountains. However, I think the contrasts are too strong. The large black shadow in the middle lacks any detail as do many of the other shadows. he ledge in front is so bright it feels washed out - there must be some nice texture in that rock tat is missing. The colors also feel odd- everything has a magenta tinge.

This seems a bit over saturated in the foreground. No details on the shadowed rock, colors are on the bland side along the vista. Id try to maybe give this shot a watercolor effect andtone down the saturation. The foreground rocks are very distracting and my eyes keep going there rather than to the panarama vista

overprocessed, shadows are black ... this could be much better

Great perspective, but the processing seems over the top especially the "bleaching" of the rocks in the foreground. by the sunlight. I find it distracts me from the beauty of the landscape in the background. Good Luck.

The big dark area in the center of the photo really hurts it for me. If you have Photoshop, try the Shadow/Highlight adjustment to pull some details out of the shadows.

The contrast is pushed a bit too high. There looks like a large black shape in the middle of the photo and a huge white one in the front. These both draw too much focus when the upper 1/3 of the photo is the most interesting part.
