They certainly were "duking it out" as u put it. I wanted to capture them pretty symetrically, so this is the best timing IMO.
With regards to the crop - possibly a little too much |

I am impressed with the warmth of this photo and the quality of the silhouettes. I agree with many others who have commented that it's hard to get tired of these photos - majestic animals that are incredibly photogenic.
Only two qualms with the photo: the first is the vertical cropping seems oh-so-slightly harsh. I would've liked a deeper vertical dimension. Every year when we go to the mountains, I'm always in search of the perfect elk photo. I've never been sure just what that is. . .but I hink now I know! Wow! What a breathtaking photo!
