Greetings from the Critique Club:
Well I was given your image to critique and I have to say that I’m very happy about that. I recall seeing your image in the still life competition and thought that it should finish in the top 10. I was disappointed to see it way down in 73rd.
There are quite a few things I like about this image. First of all, the character of the plate, spoon and milk bottle all strike me as very rural, just like one might find on a farm. Of course the title “Country Livin’ “ didn’t hurt to perpetuate the image.
The next thing that attracted my attention was the interesting composition of the spoon, bottle and plate. I immediately looked at the spoon silhouetted against the bottle, then followed it up to the plate, then around to the apples. I found your image to be very visually stimulating.
I do have to admit that the lighting is abit dim, but it reminds me of evening time on the farm, with the last bit of sunlight glinting through the window. It really sets a mood for the photo.
I didn’t know exactly what to think about the apples. They look nice there, but imho, they don’t quite fit in with the inorganic feel of the spoon, plate and bottle. What could replace them? Who knows, but what I do know isâ€Â¦I like this shot! I gave you an 8.

Upon further dissection, I'm gonna give you a 7. This really does feel like sunrise in the country. I think that, after spending so much time making comments to this challenge, I though your apples were tomatos, and that made no sense whatsoever to me. Keep trying; the submissions to this challenge were excellent, and this isn't on par with the 10s, 9s, or 8s. But you've definitely got it in you. |

The plate has character and I like the milk with its bottle and the apples. I'm not sure about the spoon. The low key and color cast make the image seem rather funky. |

Great choices and nice setup. I like the composition the way you framed it and I like the tint of color in the light. I would prefer a little more light though. Great effort but the darkness just doesn't allow the natural textures and tones to be easily identified within the plate or spoon. 8 |

The image is a little too dark for my taste, but I like the set up the compostition looks good and I like the framing. |

I like your arrangement. This is definitely a nice still life. The lighting and exposure are great. However, I not wild about the orange hue. |

I would have prefered the spoon farther in the background, maybe against the plate instead of the bottle. nice |
