Snow is actually difficult to deal with in photos that's why there are so many grey or blue snow photos from underexposure. But you mastered a snow shot. The exposure of the snow is good-white snow. I enjoy the way the deer/elk are going about their meal but casting a careful eye your way. |

Very expressive, great capture. I agree with skewsme that lightening them up a notch would help them "pop" via more details. The eye always tends to be drawn to the brightest thing in the frame, and in this case it is the snow behind the deer. You have all the right elements here, just a difficult lighting situation, in which either fill-flash on site or corrections in PS might render a result you liked even more. |

Very nice capture. I like the way they are interacting with each other. I just wish it were a bit sharper. I gave it a 6 but if it were sharper, it would have easily been a 7 in my book. |

I'm not entirely sure that I agree with the too dark comments here, only a small part of the animals' fronts are dark on my screen. Would probably have been a difficult shot to meter, too, what with the contrast. |

Thanks everyone for all the useful comments - I totally lucked into this shot. The weather was *meant* to be sunny, but of course it ended up being overcast, so I had the daunting task of trying to shoot large, shy animals against a very drab background.
Can't believe it's my homepage! |

Excellent title! Great timing on the capture, too - they really do look likes kids at the schoolyard about to get in a scuffle. |

I like the capture and their browny-brownness. maybe try a smidgeon of shadow/highlight or one of the PS fill-flash actions to brighten them up a peg. |

I like the expressions and body language telling a story here. A little dark but it's tough to balance snow and dark animals. |

Nice capture! anyway, I really like it but today I guess I am being over critical, and as people say they like constructive critisism I will let you a little of that... Theres a light yellow spot up the two (deers?) on the left, theres a blurry visible spot under the chest and beetween the legs of the deer at the right, and overly, I am feeling the image a little dark in the two middle animals. |
