This was made from two shots, one of the eye and one of the guy jumping. I made a layer for the coloration of the pupil and a layer for black and white and then just erased the black and white where I wanted color. Then I resized and rotated the boy jumping until it looked right in the eye. The fstop was pretty small so thats why the depth of field is so funky. I also took out a couple of destracting freckles.

Originally my view for this image was to just be a pretty eye but when I was messing with the saturation of the pictures I took I noticed the funny looking mountainlike shaddow reflected in his eye and I loved the way the light looked like a sunrise/sunset depending on how you interpret it. When I added the guy jumping I found that the picture became much more powerful with the guy falling down rather than jumping for joy.

Wow! exciting I havn't had a picture do this well. As for the comment on the eye looking down, the way I had pictured it was that the person is on a cliff watching the person fall down, and the seeming indifference in his eye adds a creapy touch to the photo because you think he should be more freaked out. However this can also be seen as some form of explosion and the person is flying up. It can be seen in a number of ways.

Thanks for the great comments!

This is fantastic. You're right on target about the emotional punch of seeing someone falling. My only comment was going to be what Blue Moon said: I'd rather see the eye looking up in the frame.

Sweet image. I wish the eye were bigger though. It seems indifferent to the falling man. But perhaps that is why it is intoxicating.

I really like this shot and focus, but something was bothering me and I couldn't figure out what it was! Now I know...it's very strange that the eye is "looking" down, but the person looks like they are falling from above. I think this could have been fixed with a simple rotation. Still gave it a 9 though.

the technique is tired, but the motif of a falling man works very well with this technique, and you executed it well. Also, a gripping, appropriate title. 8

Wonderful concept that is greatly executed. It is nice that you took advantage of expert editing as well. 'Hoping that this will do well.

Really nice, but I feel that the close up eye shot is too freeequently used that it has lost its edge. This being said, you have done a remarkable job of it, and the reflection in the eye is beautifully done. Nice

The frame is indeed full, but I find the subject of the photo to be very small. Nice work, though. 7
