The highlights in this shot are rather blown out and the shadows are to dark making it hard to see any real detail. Taken during a different time of day with more cooperative light would probably have helped here.

In an unfortunate coincidence, I just heard a news report about massive vandalism of rare cave formations in Redwood and Kings Canyon National Parks.
Good job handling a tricky lighting situation. |

If they could only talk, heh? This is a nice shot overall, I like the way the rocks draw you in from the top and take you through the shot and I like the person sitting there in quiet reflection, thinking of the past and showing respect. The dark corner in the bottom right is a bit distracting, a slightly tighter crop perhaps? And the shadows from behind are a good play on the light. I started at a 7 but am moving to an 8 |

I'm a little confused at where I should focus my attention. I'm guessing this is some kind of rock shelter archeological site? |

The orange and blue add an interesting accent that lifts this image |

Great to have that bright orage hat, it really stands out. I understand the reverence for geology - but the stone is so complex in the photo it is hard for your eye to know where to look. Perhaps a closer composition would work better? |
