I think this is a cracker!
I love the pose you have captured and the bg oozes quality. The pose in the bg is tremendous also. The feeling of depth is immense and made me look right through the whole image.

Nothing wrong at all with your entry, but personally I much prefer this photograph. They both have the same very good use of DOF that keeps the subject prominent, but still has interest in the background.
I also like the character of this guy a little better. Or maybe I just got sucked in by the cuteness factor...but don't tell anybody I said that!
