Greetings from the Critique Club.

I really like the composition of this shot. I like how the branches of the trees frame the whole scene, and they seem to interlock. Unfortunately, I think that the darkness of this image makes it difficult to see details, especially at the bottom. Under some circumstances, that may be fine, but there are some objects near the bottom that are very distracting; there are some very small bright objects that the lighting doesn't let me identify. Rather than enjoying the shot as a whole, I find myself squinting to try to figure out what those things are at the bottom.

I didn't have time to comment during the challenge. I gave this shot a 7. I love the way you framed the cemetery with the trees forming a vee.

The darkness at ground level really adds a feeling of mystery or being forelorn.

With the bright light on the tree tops, and crisp blue sky to contrast the dark and indistinct base you've created an image that makes one get close to see what else there is.

cheers,
JC

On my monitor this image is very dark. Photos that are intended to be dark, for mood for example) do not score well because of the wide variety in monitor calibrations amoung voters. If it looks dark to you, you can be sure that it will look even darker to many others. If you want a better score, stick to a safer brightness. If you love the image dark, be satisfied with it and ignore the score. Try looking at this on several different monitors to be sure that it looks the way it did on yours. Have you recalibrated your monitor recently?

I really like this shot, the way the trees draw your eye up from the edges to meet at the top. The path bringing you in and taking you to the back of the shot. The only thing that could be better for me would be a bit more light on the bottom part, seems just a tad darl, I like the soft border, works very well. Started at a 7, raising it to an 8

The light on the trees is beautiful, and I like the way the composition shows them all curving inwardly from the bottom to the top. The bottom portion of the photo is so dark though, that I really cannot make much out. I see the little piece of light , but not much else. I would like to have been able to make out more interesting details.

The way your lighting works here, I can imagine these trees raising their limbs in supplication to the heavens. For this reason, I don't mind it being kind of dark down on the bottom. The clarity suffers here a little, perhaps from over sharpening or something, but the trees just aren't totally clear. Nice work, though!

I see the trees and like the formation, but I can't tell what I'm seeing on the ground. A bit too dark.

My focus in this photo totally goes to the trees. I can barely make out what is at the bottom of the photo. A different exposure was needed.

Is this the cemetary south of Reykjavik? Perhaps all such lovely places bear a similarity. I like the way the branches reach out of the shadows into the light against the blue sky. I wish there was something in the foreground that caught our attention more - perhaps placing those sunlit stone at the front of your picture - then the eye would have a place to start, and then follow the trees up.
