Critique Club review:
Hi Jeff,
First, I think a shot of Mother Mary is quite sacred and the flowers and candle represent the site as being usage by believers for prayer/meditation. So, the photo meets the challenge quite well.
The photo is excellent in colors, dof and contrasts. The shading of the white marble is also perfect.
After looking at the photo, I see no way to improve it. The cropping is very good. I have no problem with the roof and it is somewhat nice because it gives a dimension of being in a garden by a church.
Keep up the great work.

This shot is close to perfect on second looks. only two things are keeping me from giving it a 9 or 10, the roof on the upper right and the wall on the left, a slightly different stance so you could have cropped differently perhaps? The light is close to perfect, maybe just a tad brighter but the colors and the clarity is fantastice. Had a 7 but am going to an 8 |

Interesting subject, but the corner of roof peeking in over the hedge needs to be gone. |

The white statue and the bright-colored flowers make a pleasing contrast. |

this is a hard angle to shoot from, given the shape of the bricks at the bottom. cropping a little off the bottom might balance the image better (personal preference of course). the colour is nice, but the sky flattens it out a little...a little fill-flash might have helped. good job. -Pedro |

The white really stands out against the greenery, wish the composition centered more on the statue, not including the roof. The flowers are colorful and bright, but the way the scatter arounf the base and are half in and out of the frame is more distracting than useful. |

Religious statues generally don't appeal to me but this one is very well done. The flowers add a nice touch. Composition is well done. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a nicer sky, but we can only photograph what is there. |

For some reason this is much more arresting than most of the other simple shots of statuary and shrines. The bright summer colors are very welcome to the gray November I'm in. I wish the tiled roof at the back were cropped out or hidden by a different angle of the trees. It would help give this a larger scale. |

Very crisp - nice colors, but how is this "altered"? Did you place the flower in the hands, hence altering it? Well, title aside, I like the colors and the sharpness of this. Looks very sacred to me - nice work. |
