In my Critique Club incarnation.
Won’t go into technicalities here, you probably have gotten the idea from the previous comments left of what your co-challengers expect from you I this domainâ€Â¦
I support your decision not to aim for the obvious in this challenge. Although, from your picture, I can’t decide if this “body is a temple” concept is something you stand for or not. Most of you audience here was raised with the metaphysical concept that the body is a cumbersome incarnation that we are finally delivered from at death. If you are suggesting the contrary, your message should be more convincing. Even if your torso hints an image of the great Leonardo, the arid bluntness of it says to me: “the temple of the soul” sureâ€Â¦and what next? If this were your message, an oversaturated color version of this same pose would deliver the idea even better. On the other hand, if you were to illustrate your title more adequately, let yourself be inspired by some of the countless examples of artworks celebrating or transcending the human body in a variety of ways. I just went through some pictures on grigrigil's website that could be of inspiration.
Keep having good ideas. Just give a little more thought on how to defend them best.
All the best, JJ

I can understand what you are trying to do with this shot but it's a bit to 'clinical' for my taste. If you played around a little more with angles of lighting and more imaginative posing it would make it much more interesting to look at! |

Idea is good. I think a little more crop of the top, the chin, and maybe above the belly button as well. I would have stayed further from the wall as well, so you didn't have a black outline/shadow. Finally, maybe neatimage might have made the skin glow a little. |

i think this shot would have been better if you stood further out from the wall so it didn't look like there was a drop shadow behind you.
did you know before you took these pictures that one of your nipples is higher than the other? |

I really like this idea. The skin tones and shadows/highlights would appear much more natural in natural sunlight. Try taking this outside on a bright day, but in shade to avoid harsh shadows. Nice composition; centered is a good choice for this subject. |

In retrospect, I'm surprised nobody else used this idea, but since they didn't, you get originality points. And composition points, and technical points -- it's really a very nice shot. |

Harsh light and shadows and an overall underexposed appearance makes this not very interesting |

Nice creative twist to the challenge! I like how you leave some to the imagination. I think some more creative lighting would have done wonders with this idea though. This photo feels a bit flat. |

i would have chosen a different body for a temple, no offense. it may have improved the aesthetic appeal of your pic. |

Good choice of subject. The lighting is harsh - I would like to see it come from different sides, give a bit more sculpting and mystery. |

Though I suppose I would classify the human body as "sacred", I would not classify it as a "sacred place"! Your lighting is pretty good, but I'm not crazy about the composition - it looks a little odd to me, to have just "part" of a body in the shot. |

Yes, the body is sacred to most, just don't tell mine, okay? a good idea and having the model in the crucified position is a nice touch but the shot really doesn't do much for me, not enough contrast and light. A 4 |
