My idea was to try and find another autumn leaf, like I had for the brown challenge. I went through my bag of autumn leaves, and found one that was the right size, but had no markings, or holes etched into it.
I then went to town with my sharp craft knife, to make holes like a Abstract face mask.....I nearly distroyed it, when I set fire to scorch the edges. I quickly put it under the tap to put the fire out.
Thankfully it worked, as I also put a second leaf behind the top face mask leaf, with two glass circles as eyes.....
I set the botton autumn leaf on to a black velvet fabric backdrop. Placed the two green glass circles on the leaf to form the eyes. I then laid the textured etched autumn larger leaf on top, to form the abstract face/mask.
Origional image was in the raw format.
Dated 3-2-2007. Number 4090.
Cropped image to portrait size.
Appearance - Strong
Curves/Levels - High
Adjusted Fill-Light down, Shadow-Contrast up, & Highlight-Contrast down,
Noise Suppression by 50%
Color Noise Suppression by 10%
Vibrance 2% to 5%
Save to JPEG file.
The photo shop processing, was very simple.
Image - Adjustments - Shadow Highlights
Filter - Sharpen - Snart Sharpen.
Filter - Noise - Reduce Noise
Cloned out small white spots in background.
Burned the background. Burned parts of the leaf/face for shadows. Dodged parts on the leaf/face for highlights.
Image - Adjustments - re Curves, and a small amount of Hue/Saturation. Also 5% Contrast as well.
Filter - Sharpen - Unsharp Mask.
Added border.
Resize and save for web.
Called my image I-C-U.

| This is a pretty good idea, but the lighting is too harsh, the leaf lacks the subtle texture. |
